Universal Destinations and Experiences

I worked on the social media team of one of the largest theme parks in the world at one of the most pivotal moments in theme park history.

From September 2023 to April 2024, I had the privilege of interning at Universal Orlando Resort, where I embarked on a thrilling journey with the Owned Social Media team. This opportunity allowed me to dive headfirst into the world of digital storytelling, content creation, and strategic marketing within one of the world's most iconic entertainment destinations.

One of the most exhilarating aspects of my internship was being entrusted with managing projects from conception to completion that supported marquee events like Halloween Horror Nights, Universal Holidays, and Universal Mardi Gras. These experiences not only tested my creativity but also honed my ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.



Furthermore, I was fortunate to be involved in the launch of new destination openings, including DreamWorks Land and the highly anticipated Epic Universe. As part of this process, I was tasked with developing creative content strategies that would captivate audiences and generate excitement for these upcoming attractions. This responsibility allowed me to blend my passion for storytelling with strategic marketing principles, ensuring that our messaging resonated with diverse audiences across various digital platforms.

Assisting management with projects was a multifaceted endeavor that challenged me to wear many hats. Whether it was crafting compelling copy, designing eye-catching graphics, or producing engaging videos, I embraced each task with enthusiasm and a commitment to excellence. Moreover, I had the opportunity to capture live content within the park, utilizing state-of-the-art portable technology to ensure that every moment was captured with clarity and precision.

Collaboration was at the heart of everything we did at Universal Orlando Resort. Working closely with teams across the organization, I learned the importance of synergy and collective creativity. Whether collaborating on lo-fi content for social media with fellow team members or producing highly polished storytelling pieces with the help of Universal's in-house creative agency, each project was a testament to the power of teamwork and shared vision.

In addition to my contributions to Universal Orlando, I also had the opportunity to manage projects that provided strategic social marketing assistance to Universal Destinations and Experiences in Orlando, Hollywood, and Japan. This global perspective allowed me to gain invaluable insights into the nuances of international marketing and the universal appeal of the Universal brand.

Overall, my internship at Universal Orlando Resort was a transformative experience that not only deepened my passion for digital marketing but also equipped me with invaluable skills and insights that will undoubtedly shape my future career. From managing marquee events to collaborating with diverse teams, every moment was an opportunity to learn, grow, and unlock the magic of storytelling in the digital age.
